CalAmp is a leading provider of comprehensive breakthrough communications access and content delivery solutions, services, and products. We have an exciting contract opportunity for an experienced Senior Usability Engineer in the Palo Alto, CA area.

Description:

The ideal candidate for this position will specialize in GUI design, specification, and executing usability tests for client projects. The successful candidate will lead the Usability improvement of a web publishing solution (WPS) including requirements definition, design and usability testing. This person will work with a UI member in the client’s knowledge and information management team.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Uses research, design specification skills, site evaluation skills, and software tools to deliver effective work products
• Works effectively under deadlines in a high pressure environment
• Works effectively with clients and other junior and senior members of the team
• Welcomes and makes improvements on constructive feedback
• Performs work under established procedures
• Demonstrates innovation, insights, and creativity resulting in value added to the client
• Designs specifications to user requirements, product styles, etc incorporating client suggestions and web site design principles and encourages staff to do so

Experience:

• At least 5-6 years experience as an usability engineer, non-traditional information architect, or user interface design, designing a variety of technology solutions
• Experience managing and mentoring others is necessary
• BS / BA in relevant field including Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, Liberal or Graphic Arts
• Consulting experience preferred
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Visio
