Vice President, Human Factors

We are presently searching for a Vice President of Human Factors who recognizes the benefits of a multidisciplinary approach to design and possesses a passion for usability. Candidates need an advanced degree in an HCI-related field, a thorough knowledge of Human Factors tools and techniques, and at least eight years of usability experience including the design of software applications. A deep knowledge and genuine ability to manage the business of both projects and the Human Factors team is a must.

Overall Responsibility:

The Vice President of Human Factors is responsible for representing the Human Factors team in all discussions regarding process and deliverables, providing input for new business initiatives, assuring the quality of Human Factors work, and hiring and evaluating Human Factors team members.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Defining Human Factors deliverables consistent with the Electronic Ink process
  • Representing the Human Factors team in presentations to prospective clients
  • Evaluating the needs of prospective clients, proposing appropriate Human Factors methodologies and tasks to meet those needs, and preparing associated time and resource estimates
  • Profitability, growth and long-tern strategy of the Human Factors team.
  • Working with project management to establish schedules, set priorities and assign Human Factors resources to projects.
  • Recruit and interview prospective Human Factors team members
  • Mentor Human Factors team members in their professional development and conduct performance reviews.
  • Seek opportunities to publish and present Electronic Ink project work
  • Provide guidance and direction to the Human Factors team regarding their project work and deliverables
  • Provide direct Human Factors support to projects
  • Oversee operation and performance of Usability Testing Lab.

Skills:

  • Well versed in all aspects of Human Factors methodology.
  • Familiar with data analysis tools such as SPSS.
  • Awareness of accessibility issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Aptitude for multidisciplinary teamwork and passion for usability.

Experience Requirements:

A minimum of 8 years usability experience including web-based applications, preferably in a variety of industries/settings, plus a minimum of two years of supervisory experience.

Educational Requirements:

Eligible candidate will possess an advanced degree in an HCI-related field.

Required Licenses or Certificates:
BCPE is desirable but not required.
