Stellar User Interface Manager

Edgelink is conducting a focused search on behalf of a highly valued client, a reputable software company in Portland, Oregon. We are looking for a strong individual who will champion the evolution/revolution of their user interface from where it is today to where it needs to be be within the year. This individual will take a customer and field perspective into the the development process working with marketing to validate requirements and making sure these are fully integrated to the development road map and subsequent delivery of same.

The individual must have exceptional communication skills, be able to build strong trust-based relationships - up, down, in and out He will have solid managerial and technical skills as well.

The individual is a leader, manager, mentor, architect as well as being a hands-on developer if needed. He will own the definition and development processes for the next generation user interface.

Job Responsibilities

• Work with customers and the field to identify UI needs and validate potential responses
• Understand the needs of the Core and Solutions engineering groups for UI support
• Work with Marketing and other development groups to turn needs into validated requirements
• Ensure requirements are integrated into a cohesive architecture, road map and development plans
• Manage a small group of developers to execute to these development plans
• This will include maintaining and extending our current UI as well as defining and developing our next generation UI.

Required Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent
• At least 5 years of related experience
• Capable of understanding complex system software
• Played a leading role in the UI development of a reasonably complex SW product
• Managed the work efforts of a small group of developers
