Mid-to Senior-Level UI Designer
AOL Community, Mountain View, CA, USA

The AOL Product Design group has a Mid-to Senior-Level UI Designer position in our California Development office located in Mountain View California. This is a FULL TIME position.

This person will be responsible for working with the AOL Community group and should have a good understanding of the community-based arena (Chat, Blogging, Message Boards, etc).

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other UI Designers on a suite of next generation Community products for the web.
  • Become an integral part of the project team to lead the UI for a product vertical.
  • Create wireframes, use cases, interaction flows, design specifications, and interaction models using an HTML tool (Dreamweaver) or other interactive design tool.
  • Assess/research target member behaviors, and create members’ experience accordingly.

Required Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of interaction design experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills to work with various interdisciplinary team members at various levels.
  • Perform quick heuristic evaluations.
  • An understanding of both Web and Windows UI Standards.
  • Ability and drive to learn and understand research practices and HCI/User-Centered design principles and apply them in innovative ways ~ (i.e. rapid prototyping techniques, paper prototyping, concept mapping, card sorting, task analysis, scenario development, use case development, ethnographic research, personas creation, object modeling).
  • Identify and creatively solve complex design problems .
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software (Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Dreamweaver a plus).
  • Working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript and other web technologies and tools.
  • Can lead brainstorming and ideation sessions to generate innovative solutions to complex design problems.
  • Visualize and model complex concepts, workflows and navigation systems Experience with shipping products, and cross-platform design experience is preferred.
  • Flash or other dynamic/interactive prototyping experience is a plus!
