Director of Operations

Second Story Interactive Studios seeks a Director of Operations to orchestrate the ongoing development of award-winning interactive media for museums and cultural institutions around the world. The Director of Operations will manage and coordinate the day-to-day activities and infrastructure of the studio. Working with the studio principals, you will take primary responsibility for the development and implementation of operating policies, procedures, and special projects. You will prepare operational analyses, reports and audits of current procedures to monitor and improve efficiency of operations. You will support our team of producers, designers, programmers, motion graphics artists, and developers by assuring each individual's well-being, contributing to their success, enhancing their productivity and ensuring the team's collective effort best fulfills Second Story's operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities
- Formulates and administers studio policies, directing and coordinating all studio activities to develop and implement long-range objectives to meet profitability and business growth objectives.
- Prepares analyses of activities, costs, operations and forecast data to determine progress towards stated goals and objectives.
- Confers regularly with studio principals to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions.
- Provides recommendations to the Studio principals based on evaluations of existing operations, processes, systems and procedures; plans and implements modifications and changes to existing operations, processes, systems and procedures.
- Oversees projects, processes and performance reports.
- Maintains master production schedule, prioritizing and balancing project milestones and deliverables with personnel resources.
- Reviews operations and prepares plans to meet requirements for project planning and possible staffing/outsourcing requirements.
- Reviews accounting analysis in relation to budgetary planning and implementation, productivity efficiencies.
- Oversees the supervision of personnel which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
- Motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance; enhances team dynamics by fostering a culture that inspires creative collaboration and team building.
- Oversees the provision of professional development for staff on applicable operating policies, protocols, systems and procedures, standards and techniques.
- Develops a recruiting, training and internship strategy that continually cultivates new talent in all team disciplines.

- Skills in budget preparation and fiscal management.
- Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures within a creative/interactive/media/software development studio.
- Skills in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of interactive media development environment preferred
