From the Editor Pawan R. Vora, pawanvora@msn.com Welcome to yet another issue of Internetworking! I apologize for not getting this issue of Internetworking out sooner. I was hoping to get this issue out by the end of 2001. But, for several reasons (and excuses), I wasn't able to. Better late, than never though! I don't have to tell you that the ITG Web site was pretty quiet in 2001. No, we were not "dot-commed." However, we did see the effects of dot-com meltdown on the site. We received very few jobs to post on the site and we had a difficult time getting people to contribute to Internetworking. Also, we lost a few of our enthusiastic volunteers. Despite all the difficulties, there were a few events that us ITGians should be proud of. Optavia Corporation sponsored the Seventh Human Factors and the Web Conference in Madison, Wisconsin. And thanks to Rachel Young, the ITG program at the HFES Annual Meeting was very well received. Last but not least, we launched this issue of Internetworking :-) Before I forget, do make plans to join us all in Nice, France. This year we will launch our First European hf/Web conference in Nice, France (March 16-19, 2002); the Web site for the conference is at www.unice.fr/hfweb. Thanks to Marco Botta and Judy Cantor for making this happen! Because we're hosting our conference in Europe this year, we have decided not to have the hf/Web conference in the U.S. in 2002. But we're working on hosting one next year. If you and/or your company are interested in hosting the conference, please get in touch with Judy Cantor (cantormail@yahoo.com) or me (pawanvora@msn.com) at the earliest. Finally, I encourage you not only to read all the articles in this issue, but also start making plans for sending me your submissions for the next issue of Internetworking, which I am hoping to launch in April 2002. If you need help with the ideas on what you can write about, feel free to send an e-mail to me (pawanvora@msn.com) or to our new Internetworking editor, Steven Belz (steven.belz@kodak.com). Hope you have a Happy 2002! Pawan... © Internet Technical Group Last update: February 3, 2002 URL: http://www.internettg.org/newsletter/dec01/from_the_editor.html |
